Offbeat Portugal is a boutique incoming Tour Operator and Destination Management Company (DMC), specialized in crafting unique and tailor-made travel experiences in Portugal, to the discerning travelers.

Our team is expert on the destination, with strong and long-standing relationships with the network of suppliers and friends we work with, guaranteeing our clients have insider access to truly exclusive stuff.

All the hotels and properties we book are carefully inspected by us on a regular basis, whether they are newcomers or old favourites.

We know all about the Michelin-starred restaurants spread through Portugal, as well as those authentic and traditional ones with genuine Portuguese comfort food.

We can tell you where to find the best Espresso Martinis, Gin & Tonics or even Portuguese Craft Beer.

As Portuguese, nightlife is also a big part of our lives, so the most stylish and exclusive clubs of Portugal are on the tip of our tongue.

Special activities is something we are also experts on, whether it is a wine tasting at a private wine estate or that Surf lesson with Portugal’s leading surfer.

The company was founded by José Guia and Tiago Marques, two long-time friends from completely different backgrounds – Tourism and Finance – but with the same passion for experiential travel and, of course, Portugal. This passion, combined with an extensive knowledge about their homeland, has led them to start Offbeat Portugal, whose purpose is to create utterly special and memorable experiences in this corner of Europe. They believe luxury travel is no longer about the most expensive services, but instead, experiencing a destination in genuinely authentic ways. It’s all about insider access over acquisition and experiences over owning things and this is what they want to offer to clients.

JOSÉ GUIA

With will to promote not only a product but an entire country, José has left his Hospitality background, to show the world the best of what Portugal has to offer. With a background in luxury hospitality, having worked for some of the most prestigious hotels in Portugal, he has spent the last years designing high-end and tailor-made itineraries to his clients, as well as organizing extraordinary events to some of the biggest corporate clients and event agencies. His creative thinking and attention to detail have allowed him to work with an exclusive and demanding clientele, so there is no itinerary or event too complex for him to handle.

TIAGO MARQUES

For Tiago, an established past within Finance and more recently Senior Care Management, was not enough. Being an extremely well-travelled individual who likes to make people around him feel pampered and special, welcoming guests in Portugal sounded like an incredible idea. His main hobby is to travel around Portugal, spending a weekend here and there, discovering the latest hotspots to suggest to his clients, to make sure they always have the most current information about the destination. For him, there is nothing like his country and its hidden secrets and he is willing to share them with you.
